My Wig Journey
Welcome to the Western Tress Wig Vault. My name is Theresa. I’m a mom of 3 rodeo kids, a hair stylist since 1999 an entrepreneur and wife.
In the fall of 2024 I found out how far wigs have come, they have beat the stigma of the helmet head style and harsh hairline looks. You know what I’m talking about, grandmas stiff obviously fake, crunchy plastic looking curls. You find yourself wondering if there are some sort of creepy crawly things living in there!
My kids all moved away to college to find new lifestyles exploring their own dreams of rodeo life. I’m middle aged and was feeling it. Bored with myself, feeling old and overweight. I think Facebook knew it! You know what I mean. They just know what you’re thinking! I saw how wonderful these wig styles and colors were.
Not only was I feeling old like there is no turning back now but I was born with pretty tight curly hair that really didn’t like to be straightened. When I do straighten it it’s thin and fine, I’m sure you get the picture.
I always wanted the hair everyone else had. Yes I hear over and over but I would love to have your hair! The girls with straight hair want curls and us curly gals want straight! We always want what we can’t have.
But then I came across Belle Tress wigs! I could now have the hair I have always wanted. Win! Plus I could have any color double win! I found a couple used wigs that I practiced cutting, thinning and rejuvenating those locks! It gave me a new outlook on being behind the beauty chair, which I said I would never go back to!
Not long after my new found love of wigs started (wig addiction is real lol!) I found a spot that just opened up in a salon near me that had a private room. I mentioned wigs to the owner in our interview and she was instantly excited! This type of service of custom wig styling is no where near us.
I have now been in the salon a year and I have quit my other job and enjoy doing this full time. My first client was a cancer patient. Beautiful lady, she left with the most perfect wig for her. Her daughter messaged me that night and said mom feels so much more confident and my dad absolutely loves the wig on her. No other job has ever made me feel like I could truly make a difference in someone’s life.
Since then I have helped ladies as young as middle school age find the crown that suits them best. But overall my biggest customer base is women with thin hair. I had no idea how many women struggle with thinning. I absolutely love watching everyone face light up with confidence when they find the one!
My salon suit offers privacy so that my clients can relax and enjoy the try on process without feeling like all eyes are on them.
If you would have told me 2 years ago this is where you will be. I would not have believed you. I virtually stumbled into this business by complete accident. My husband told me to go for it, this could be the thing you have been waiting for. So far he’s been right. :)
